TREATMENTS
LOWER & MID BACK PAIN
Lower back pain is regarded as the number one cause of disability worldwide and costs the healthcare system billions every year. Muscles, ligaments, joints, nerves, herniated discs, arthritis, degenerative disc disease and many more have been implicated in back pain. In both acute and chronic back pain it is important to assess all of these structures. Chiropractic has been shown to be an incredibly effective and cost-efficient approach to back pain.
SPORTING INJURIES
Injuries on the sports field and in the gym occur for a multitude of reasons. Of these include overuse and overtraining. Chiropractic addresses prevention, management and treatment of sports injuries using a neuromusculoskeletal approach. This is done by addressing dysfunction in the tissues and then introducing appropriate exercise for long term relief and performance.
NECK PAIN & STIFFNESS
Neck pain is regarded as the third cause of disability worldwide and can be extremely frustrating and disabling. Muscles, ligaments, joints, nerves, herniated discs, “pinched nerves”, arthritis and others have been implicated in neck pain. Patients may also experience pain radiating down the shoulders and arms, or numbness and tingling in the fingers. Chiropractic provides an effective and gentle drug-free approach to neck pain.
HEADACHES & MIGRAINES
People experience headaches for a variety of reasons and they can be frustrating and disabling. A cervicogenic headache occurs when nerves in the upper neck get confused with a collection of nerves in the brain and are felt as a headache. Headaches can often be associated with a significant amount of muscle tension, autonomic symptoms such as eye-watering or worsening symptoms from light or sound. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is also often misdiagnosed in headaches. Chiropractic provides a gentle and holistic approach to these conditions.
WHIPLASH
Following a car accident, which for the most part is unexpected, the head can be accelerated backwards and forwards very quickly in an unfavourable manner resulting in ligament, joint or muscle injury. If left untreated, it can result in chronic pain. Assessing the ligaments, joints, muscles and nerves is important for an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
SCIATICA
Sciatica is actually a symptom and not a condition. It refers to pain that is felt down both or just one leg. It’s basically a “pinched nerve” in the lower back. This can be caused by herniated discs or anything causing inflammation or impingement of the nerves that leave the lower back and move down the legs.
